Mark Korman is President of the Commercial Division of Korman Communities where he oversees its retail & office holdings as well as all multi-family land development and construction. Mark recently joined the Advisory Board for the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and the Board of Legacy Youth Tennis (after transitioning off the Board of Philadelphia Youth Basketball. However, Mark remains on PYB’s property committee. He is also a former trustee of the Community Partnership School (& still active on its steering committee), Lower Gwynedd Little League, and The Ambler Theater.
Also, Mark served on Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Real Estate Committee for 5 years.. Mark coached youth sports at all levels for thirteen years, and still counts that time as his most fulfilling. Mark has also served on various committees for Whitpain Rec Assoc., Project HOME, Germantown Academy, and Duke University (where he also served as local interviewer for 13 years).
Mark and his development team handled all aspects of the Blue Bell AVE project, including identifying, securing, rezoning, and fully entitling the land, as well as over-seeing the construction.
Currently, Mark and the AVE development team just broke ground in Horsham. They also just delivered 600 new units at the Philadelphia Navy Yard with Ensemble/Mosaic. Mark and the AVE team were just awarded a new TOD project in Ambler, and they are also working on other barrier-to-entry suburban Philadelphia locations. The development arm of Korman Communities has grown exponentially under Mark’s leadership.
Mark also oversees the commercial holdings including Class A & B office buildings, shopping centers, and mixed-use commercial. All were purchased as value-add opportunities, and have been completely renovated and/or rebuilt by Mark and his team.
Korman’s real estate roots date back to 1919 when Mark’s great grandfather began developing homes and apartments in the Philadelphia area. Mark’s father, Steven H. Korman, is founding partner of The Korman Company and former CEO of Korman Communities. Mark’s brother, Larry, is president of AKA and co-CEO of Korman Communities, and his brother, Bradley, serves as co-CEO of Korman Communities, and also handles the day-to-day operation of the Company as a whole.
Mark Korman is an alumnus of Germantown Academy (class of 1986) and Duke University (class of 1990). He is married to Kelly and together, they have two children, Cameron (25) and Quin (22).
